EIBTM in Barcelona
With attendance increasing 8 percent over 2013 numbers, EIBTM reinforced widespread optimism for the meetings and events industry in Europe last week. More than 80 percent of the 15,500 industry professionals who attended the trade show in Barcelona came from Europe.
The American Express Meetings & Events 2015 Global Forecast has also indicated that the number of meetings in Europe is predicted to increase.
“We have been oversubscribed on appointments this year making it our best ever EIBTM,” said David Chalmers, marketing director Europe for Cvent, Inc. “All members of our sales team have talked about the fantastic quality of buyers whom they have met with and a significant amount of business has been made here as a result of that.”
Association numbers were particularly good, with 67 percent of the 271 meeting planners coming from individual associations and societies. Overall the event saw an increase of 12 percent in attendance by association hosted buyers.
“You really couldn’t miss the buzz on the show floor this year,” said Graeme Barnett, EIBTM senior exhibition director.
EIBTM has been rebranded as “ibtm world─where connections mean everything.” Ibtm world will join its sister events ibtm arabia, ibtm Africa, ibtm america, ibtm china and ibtm india under the ibtm events umbrella along with AIME in Melbourne and the recently announced ICOMEX in Mexico.
